Travis Kelce shared that his New York baseball date with Taylor Swift was “awesome” despite the unfortunate outcome of his team losing the game
Travis Kelce knows “all too well” just how much fun a baseball date with girlfriend Taylor Swift can be!
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, opened up about the couple’s recent outing at Yankees Stadium for the first game of the MLB American League Championship between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians.
The NFL player, who shared that he was “a Cleveland kid” who wanted to see the team win a “world series,” noted that the game came with some disappointments, as his team lost 2-5 to the Yankees.
“It was mixed feelings because I was there trying to have some fun with Tay and everybody. All our friends [came],” he recalled on the Wedneday, Oct. 16 episode of his New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce. “We had [an] unbelievable crew, with us and hanging with us.”
“And, you know, it was, it was fun,” he continued. “Even though the [Guardians] couldn’t pull it off, it was still an exciting, exciting game. And it was cool to see Yankee Stadium because I’ve always wanted to see that thing in person in a playoff game, in a hostile environment, and it didn’t disappoint, man. The Yankees, the fans, the players, everybody involved, man.”
“It was awesome,” he summarized.
Travis, who wore a baseball hat decorated with “Midnight Rodeo” to the game, was spotted sharing some PDA with Swift during the playoffs event. In clips posted online, the Super Bowl champion and Grammy winner could be seen high-fiving one another and holding hands. At one point, Swift was spotted placing her hand on Kelce’s shoulder.
The Kansas City Chiefs player and his brother, who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, have been lifelong fans of their hometown baseball team. They shared on New Heights that they had been going to Cleveland games since before the team changed its name from the Indians to Guardians.
“We just grew up in the ’90s with the Indians, and we just loved baseball so much because they were so good,” Jason recalled. “How many world series or playoff games did we go to?”
“I went to the All-Star. You went to the World Series,” Travis responded. “I remember going to just taking the rapid downtown and going to games for, like, a $5, $10 ticket. Or if a friend had an extra ticket for me, we would all just jump on the rapid and go downtown.”
The Guardians lost to the Yankees again on Tuesday with a score of 3-6. The two teams are set to square off in two more games scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 17, and Friday, Oct. 18, and three more possible games on Saturday, Oct. 19, Monday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 22. The winner will either face the New York Mets or Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.
Meanwhile, Swift has become something of a regular at attending sporting events since she began dating her football player beau. So far this season she has attended the Chiefs’ first two games.
The “So High School” singer has also attended 13 NFL games since she confirmed she was dating Travis in October 2023. This included an appearance at the Super Bowl, where the pair celebrated his second-straight championship with a kiss on the field after the game.
