Taylor Swift overtakes Rihanna to become world’s richest female musician
Taylor Swift has officially been crowned the world’s richest female musician.
At just 34 years old, Swift has reached a remarkable net worth of $1.6 billion, as reported by Forbes. Previously, Rihanna held the title with a peak net worth of $1.7 billion, but her current estimate stands at $1.4 billion.
Swift’s financial milestone of $1 billion was achieved in October, primarily fueled by the immense success of The Eras Tour and her recent album releases. According to Bloomberg, she is among the few artists to attain such wealth solely through her music and performances.
Kicking off The Eras Tour in Arizona in March 2023, Swift toured across the U.S. throughout the summer, concluding the first leg in Los Angeles in August. She will take the tour international starting in February and is expected to wrap up her performances in December upon returning to the U.S. The tour is projected to generate an astounding $1.5 billion, contingent on ticket prices, Forbes noted.

Swift has also opted to release her concert film exclusively in theaters. “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” premiered on October 13, 2023, and grossed an impressive $92.8 million during its opening weekend.
Since reaching billionaire status, Swift has unveiled her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” released in April.
The global pop sensation has consistently generated revenue while many artists struggle in the current streaming landscape. As branding expert Doug Eldridge noted to FOX Business, “Taylor occupies a unique position when it comes to monetizing her talent. In an age where artists have lost millions due to the decline of album sales in favor of digital downloads, she is successfully riding the technological wave rather than being swept away by it.”
According to Dr. Sonja Stribling, a retired U.S. Army Major and author of the forthcoming book “From the Battlefield to the Boardroom,” Swift has fundamentally transformed the music industry for female artists.
“It’s not just about the wealth she’s accumulated, though that’s significant; she’s also forging a path for others to follow,” Dr. Stribling told FOX Business. “I’m confident that she and Beyoncé have discussed this, as both are paving the way for future generations. They are trailblazers, particularly for women, and it’s not just about reaching billionaire status—Taylor is poised to make history by setting ambitious goals for others to aspire to.”
She added, “I recognize that only about 1% of people in this industry, perhaps even less, will achieve what she has accomplished, yet she makes it seem effortless.”
