Not long after, she was on stage alongside Bieber as the Baby singer sang her “Happy Birthday” in front of 20,000 fans. The popularity also became a curse for the singer when she went through the darkest phase in her life.

In 2016, Beer became a victim of an online attack that resulted from her n*de photos being leaked online. Beer revealed last year that she contemplated suicide over this darkest phase in her life. Beer has released two albums, one EP, and several singles.

Madison Beer posted a video to her YouTube channel, singing the cover of Etta James’ At Last. Justin Bieber came across the video and tweeted a link to it on his X (then Twitter), sharing, “13 years old! She can sing #future star.” Beer rose to popularity as a child star and was soon signed on by Island Records.

During an interview with The Independent, she shared that meeting Bieber was “one of the most pivotal moments” of her career. For a long time, she was managed by Scooter Braun, who was Bieber’s manager. She left Island Records in 2015 as she wanted to shed the “Disney queen” image.

Her new kind of songs as an indie artist were more emotional and it took some time for critics to come to terms with her vulnerable music. The songs may have also reflected some of the darkest moments in her life. She openly talks about her mental health on social media now. She has revealed that the internet and social media have contributed to her mental health issues.

When Beer was just 15, she found out that a n*de video of her was leaked online. It devastated her and reminded her of childhood s*xual abuse, giving her PTSD (via Call Her Daddy podcast). She also revealed to BuzzFeed that she engaged in self-harm and was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. She told The Independent of this dark phase:

There was a lot of very lonesome dark points for me that I felt like not many people or anyone could understand. I felt crazy. And I just made myself feel really horrible.

She was on tour around the world for her second studio album, Silence Between Songs. The Spinnin Tour concluded last month in Melbourne and comprised a total of 63 shows.

Madison Beer is often referred to as a social media star than a singer. She has 39 million followers on Instagram. However, she is not happy about this and feels that she is not taken seriously as a singer. During her interview with The Independent, she shared that she had come to accept this fact, adding that it doesn’t matter to her anymore.

Beer just didn’t stumble upon music and made it a way to become famous. She is genuinely a music lover and is obsessed with The Beatles. For Silence Between Songs, she admitted that she took inspiration from The Beach Boys, Tame Impala, and Lana Del Rey.

Madison also shared that she was rushed to grow up in a lot of ways just because she was in the music industry.
