Liam Payne’s Ex Maya Henry Reportedly Issued a Cease and Desist Days Before His De@th
Liam Payne was reportedly accused of obsessive contact — and issued a cease and desist letter — by his ex-fiancée Maya Henry days before his death.
Henry’s attorneys served Payne on her behalf on Monday, October 14, according to the Daily Mail. “Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information,” their statement to the outlet read. “She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter.”
Henry, 23, accused Payne of repeatedly contacting her and her family members. Us Weekly has reached out to Henry for comment.
Earlier this month, Henry claimed on social media that Payne was “weaponizing” his fanbase against her.
“Ever since we broke up, he messages me, will blow up my phone, not only from his phone number, it’s always from different phone numbers too, so I never know where it’s gonna come from,” she alleged in a TikTok video. “He’ll create new iCloud accounts to iMessage me — it’s always a damn new iCloud account. Every time I see one pop up on my phone I’m like, ‘Here we f—– go again.’”
The model continued: “Also, [he] will email me … not only me, but he’ll blow up my mom’s phone. Is that normal behavior to you?”
Us confirmed on Wednesday, October 16, that Payne died after falling from the third floor of his Argentina hotel. He was 31. The Buenos Aires City Police were dispatched to CasaSur Palermo Hotel earlier that day, where Payne was staying. According to the official police report, officers were acting on a call reporting an “aggressive man who may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”
“At 5:04 p.m., through 911 and the integrated public security system, we were alerted about a person in the internal courtyard of the CasaSur hotel,” the SAME (Emergency Medical Assistance System) director Alberto Crescenti said in a TV interview via La Nacion. “Unfortunately, he had injuries incompatible with life due to the fall, so we had to confirm the death. There was no possibility of resuscitation.”
Henry has yet to publicly address Payne’s death. The former couple dated on and off from 2018 to 2022 before calling off their engagement. Payne reflected on the end of their relationship before sparking a romance with Kate Cassidy, whom he was still dating at the time of his passing.
“I feel like more than anything at this point, I’m more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people,” he said on the “Diary of a CEO” podcast in June 2021. “That annoys me. I’ve just not been very good at relationships. I’m just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else.”
He added: “I feel like that’s where I got to in my last relationship. I just wasn’t giving a very good version of me anymore, that I didn’t appreciate and I didn’t like being.”
