From Fan to Foe in a Heartbeat: Kid Rock Refuses to Let Jennifer Lopez On Stage, Gets Her Thrown Out of Concert After Her Big Endorsement

On Nov. 3, 2024, the Facebook page SpaceX Fanclub posted a meme claiming musician Kid Rock refused to let fellow music artist Jennifer Lopez onstage during a concert performance due to her endorsement of Kamala Harris for president in the 2024 U.S. election.

The meme contained a caption, which read: “Kid Rock Refuses to Let Jennifer Lopez On Stage, Gets Her Thrown Out of Concert After Her Big Endorsement.”

Variations of the rumor spread to other Facebook accounts, including We Are Patriots, that same day.

We Are Patriots and SpaceX Fanclub linked to an Esspots article in the comments on their posts, which reported the following:

In what can only be described as a clash of the pop-culture titans, Kid Rock reportedly had Jennifer Lopez escorted out of his concert Saturday night after she tried to join him on stage. According to sources close to the incident, the rocker’s security team was quick to act, guiding Lopez out of the venue just moments after she made her way toward the stage. The reason? Her recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Some people replying to the Facebook posts appeared to believe the claim, with one writing in SpaceX Fanclub’s comments section: “Good job! It’s time we all stand up to those entitled people who have not been affected by the let’s hateful policies!” Meanwhile, on the We Are Patriots post, one social media user wrote: “Jennifer Lopez is a Communist.”

However, others noticed the “Rated Satire” stamp in the top-left corner of the memes.

For instance, one Facebook user commented: “If you read at the bottom it is a satire not true it’s only on here to get people upset.”

Indeed, this item was not a factual recounting of real-life events. The Facebook account SpaceX Fanclub is satirical in nature and states in its Facebook Intro: “We post SATIRE, nothing on this page is real.”

Likewise, the We Are Patriots Intro states: “We post SATIRE, Nothing on this Page is Real. Affiliated with SpaceXMania.com which is a part of ‘The Patriots Network’ of Satire and Parody.”

SpaceX Fanclub is an offshoot of the satirical news site Esspots.com, which wrote in its website Disclaimer that all its posts are “entirely fictitious and created for the purpose of entertainment only.”

Esspots also describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature on its About Us page:

Welcome to the US page of Esspots (A Subsidiary of SpaceXMania.com specializing in Satire and Parody News), your one-stop destination for satirical news and commentary about the United States of America. Our team of writers and editors is dedicated to bringing you the latest and greatest in fake news and absurdity, all with a healthy dose of humor and satire.

On this page, you can expect to find all sorts of hilarious stories and parodies about US politics, culture, and society. From outrageous conspiracy theories to outlandish political stunts, we’ve got it all covered.

No other reputable media outlet reported the satirical story about Kid Rock — who has publicly endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump for president — refusing to let Lopez onstage due to her political endorsement of Democratic Party candidate Harris, which she made on Oct. 31 at the campaign’s Las Vegas rally.

In the past, Lopez and Kid Rock have shared a stage (alongside rapper Ja Rule) when they performed for the troops at Ramstein Air Base in southwestern Germany in 2001.

Snopes has previously addressed similar claims related to both performers, including the satirical rumor that Kid Rock shipped millions of dollars’ worth of supplies to locations impacted by recent hurricanes, and a fake photo purportedly showing Lopez “without makeup.”

For background, here is why we alert readers to rumors created by sources that call their output humorous or satirical.
