Elon Musk silences Taylor Swift: Shocking ban wipes out 1 million followers and costs her a staggering $72 million!
In an unexpected turn of events, Elon Musk, owner of the X platform (formerly known as Twitter), decided to ban the account of the famous singer Taylor Swift. This action has created a massive stir on social media and in the media, as Swift lost over 1 million followers within hours, in addition to suffering a significant financial blow, with an estimated loss of over $72 million.
Although the exact details behind the banning of Taylor Swift’s account have not been fully revealed, some reports suggest that Musk’s decision may be linked to disagreements over how the singer was using the platform. Swift has been one of the most influential celebrities on X, regularly interacting with her fans and promoting her music and other projects.
However, the sudden suspension of her account has left many wondering if there was a conflict of interest between Musk and Swift, or if it was simply a violation of platform policies. Musk himself has been known for making bold and controversial decisions since taking control of X, and this could be another one of them.
The shutdown of her account also means a loss of opportunities to promote her music and future projects, which could affect her career in the long term. However, Taylor Swift’s fans have already begun showing their support, using hashtags and posts on other platforms to express their discontent with Musk’s decision.
Despite the setback, it is unlikely that this will stop one of the most successful artists in the industry. Taylor Swift has repeatedly shown her ability to overcome obstacles and come out stronger. While her team is expected to release an official statement, fans and experts believe that Swift will find new ways to connect with her audience and continue her career.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk has yet to give a detailed statement about the banning of Swift’s account, leaving many to speculate about the next developments in this unfolding story. What is clear is that this incident has marked a new chapter in the complex relationship between celebrities and social media, especially when platforms are under the control of powerful figures like Musk.
Taylor Swift has X account, but that hasn’t stopped people from sharing false claims Musk banned her
Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has more than 95 million followers on X and, as of Sept. 26, her account was active.
Swift made her last X post in late June, when she wished Prince William, who attended her Eras Tour show with two of his children, a happy birthday.
Still, a Sept. 25 Facebook post claimed that X owner Elon Musk had banished her from the social media site.
“Elon Musk silences Taylor Swift: Shocking ban wipes out 1 million followers and costs her a staggering $72 million!” the post said.
It was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)
This post is unfounded. Swift’s account hasn’t been suspended, nor did we find any credible evidence, such as news reports, that Musk banned her.
After Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, Sept. 10, Musk posted on X: “Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.” (The cats referred to an earlier comment from Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance, R-Ohio, about the downsides of “childless cat ladies.” Swift riffed on this, signing her endorsement with, “Taylor Swift Childless Cat Lady.”)
We rate claims that Musk banned Swift from X False.
