Anthony Joshua REVEALS the one piece of advice Cristiano Ronaldo gave him ahead of Daniel Dubois fight
The heavyweight boxer has discussed what Ronaldo told him to do for the fight.
British boxing icon Anthony Joshua has revealed what Cristiano Ronaldo told him to do ahead of his upcoming fight with Daniel Dubois.
On Saturday night, Joshua aims to become a three-time boxing heavyweight champion as he faces fellow Brit Dubois at Wembley Stadium.
The fight was confirmed in June this year and just one month prior, Joshua was seen talking to football legend Ronaldo while sitting ringside for the bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
And now, the 34-year-old boxer has revealed exactly what Ronaldo said to him in May and the one piece of advice he gave him for Saturday’s fight against Dubois.
When asked by TNT Sports what they pair had discussed, Joshua said: “About his health regime, the regiment he keeps in order to keep himself healthy, and he gave me some tips really.
“And to be fair, look at that I got seven hours sleep after following some of his recommendations.”
When discussing health regimes and keeping your body in peak condition, Ronaldo is perhaps the best athlete in the world to speak to.
At 39 years old, the striker is still breaking records both for current club Al Nassr and for the Portuguese national side.
Ronaldo is one of the most accomplished footballers in the history of the sport, having claimed five Ballon d’Ors and won trophies in England, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
And as Joshua heads into what could be the most important fight in his career, he will no doubt take any advice he can get from such an elite athlete and serial winner.
The 34-year-old faces a much younger opponent on Saturday as a challenges 27-year-old Dubois who currently holds the IBF heavyweight belt that was vacated by Usyk earlier this year.
Should Joshua get the win over the younger Brit, he will join elite company in Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis, the only other men to become three-time heavyweight boxing champions.
Speaking about his fighter ahead of the bout, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports News: “If you get hit by Anthony Joshua at the moment, you are going to sleep.
“If he makes one mistake, it’s night-night for Daniel Dubois.”
