After the victory at Sofi Stadium, their season now stands at 4-0, and they are still in the running to win three straight Super Bowls.
However, superstar wide receiver Rice’s horrific knee injury cast a shadow over the win.
After being taken off the field, the 24-year-old is expected to miss the whole 2024–2025 NFL season.
Tests to confirm the diagnosis are planned for Monday; it is assumed that he tore his ACL.
Following the horrifying events and significant setback to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl hopes, Mahomes has now spoken out.
Additionally, the 29-year-old has informed Travis Kelce and the rest of his offense that they will have to step up in his absence.
“We’ll see what happens with Rashee,” Mahomes told ESPN reporter Field Yates.
“Hopefully we can get him back at some point this season.
“If not, other guys gotta step up.
“That’s what football is about.

“I think we’ve got a lot of good guys out there that can go out there and make plays.”
Given the circumstances surrounding Rice’s injury, Mahomes will be even more upset about it following the Chargers game.
The wide out was left on the ground as a result of the quarterback’s interception.
Andy Reid, the head coach of the Chiefs, announced that Rice will receive an MRI on Monday.

The Chiefs saw wide receiver Rashee Rice taken off on the back of a medical cart at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Kansas City was already without free agency signing wide receiver Hollywood Brown (shoulder) and starting running back Isiah Pacheco (fractured fibula).
Both are set to miss large parts of the 2024 NFL season.
Speaking after Sunday’s win over the LA Chargers sent them to 4-0, Mahomes said, “All we can do now is go back to the basics and try to get guys opportunities to succeed.
“The guys stepped up and filled in as good as they can the role that Rice has in our offense, which is a big one.”
“I feel terrible for Rashee, we will hope for the best,” said Reid.
The Chiefs have been contending with a number of significant problems so far this season.
Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is out for the entire regular season.
But one positive note was the return to form for their superstar tight end Kelce.
He looked back to his old self against the Chargers, following a dismal start to the year.
The 34-year-old had seven catches for 89 yards, more than the previous three games combined.
