The Class of 2025 Texas High School Football Hall of Fame honorees are led by Patrick Mahomes
KLTV, Tyler, Texas A number of East Texans, including Patrick Mahomes, were inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame in 2025.
Coaches Jeff Traylor of Gilmer High School and Curtis Barbay of Newton High School join Mahomes in receiving recognition for their accomplishments in high school football.
In addition to coaching at Gilmer for 14 years, from 2000 to 2014, Traylor has had coaching positions at a number of East Texas high schools. At the University of Texas at San Antonio, Traylor serves as a coach.
In 2013, Mahomes received his diploma from Whitehouse High School.
Before his passing in 2010, Barbay had guided Newton High School to 317 victories since taking over as coach in 1968.
The Texas High School Coaches Association will induct Barbay into its Hall of Honor in 2025.
In May 2025, a private event will celebrate the nine Texas High School Football Hall of Fame entrants.
Prior to the event, a news conference will take place in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame’s SWC Gallery in Waco.
