Kern County experienced a significant seismic event on Tuesday night when a 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck at 9:09 p.m. PT. The quake’s epicenter was centered in Lamont, California, located near Bakersfield, according to the U.S.
Geological Survey (USGS).
The tremor was strong enough to be felt across a wide area, reaching as far as Los Angeles and extending down into Orange County. The initial quake was followed by a series of aftershocks, intensifying the seismic activity in the region.
