Justin Bieber’s mom Pattie Mallette has opened up about her fears her son would develop “unhealthy, long-term relationships” as a result of his sudden rise to fame

Justin Bieber was just a teenager when he first crossed paths with Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs, who later became a guiding figure for the young singer.

The relationship between the two has been closely examined following the rapper’s arrest in New York last month. Combs is facing several charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. He has refuted all accusations against him and entered a plea of not guilty in court.

In her memoir, Nowhere but Up: The Story of Justin Bieber’s Mom, Justin’s mother Pattie Mallette discussed her son’s meteoric rise to stardom. While she always believed her son would become a star, she confessed to being “afraid” that Justin might form “unhealthy, long-term relationships” due to his fame, reports the Mirror US.

“At the end of the day, I was Justin’s mother. I was accountable for any documents for any documents I signed, or any deal I authorised… I was afraid of making a mistake,” she wrote.

Pattie further wrote: “What if I signed something that steered Justin in the wrong direction, or put him in the path of unhealthy, long-term relationships? ” Shortly after, Justin was signed to Island Records, which introduced him to Usher.

Usher played a pivotal role in launching Justin Bieber’s career, and before long the “Never Say Never” sensation was mingling with the likes of P Diddy’s crew. Diddy even took on a mentoring role for the young Bieber, with throwback videos emerging showing their time together.

One particular video shows a 15 year old Bieber spending two days with Diddy, who commented that they were “hanging out and what we’re doing we can’t really disclose.”

Although the specifics weren’t revealed, Diddy labeled the experience as a “15-year-old’s dream”. He also hinted at some wild plans, saying they were going to “go buck full crazy.” Bieber chimed in: “The next 48 hours let’s just go get some girls. Go hang out some.”

To which Diddy responded warmly, “A man after my heart, that’s what I’m talking about,” followed by an affectionate embrace with Bieber.

In the wake of Diddy’s recent arrest in New York, amidst accusations including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation for prostitution, this connection has come under scrutiny. Combs has vigorously denied all allegations against him.

The hip-hop mogul is caught up in a slew of legal battles as he faces six civil lawsuits that allege he committed rape, sexual abuse, and sexual assault. The plaintiffs, who seek anonymity, comprising four men and two women, have brought forth claims against Diddy.

Spanning from 1995 to 2021, these incidents are said to have occurred. These individuals represent the first wave out of a total of 120 alleged victims claiming misconduct by Diddy.

Diddy’s legal representatives vigorously deny the accusations made in the civil lawsuits, criticizing the publicity surrounding the case. Their comments to The Mirror US were dismissive of the tactics used to generate attention: “The press conference and 1-800 number that preceded today’s barrage of filings were clear attempts to garner publicity.”

They expressed firm belief in Diddy’s innocence and the justice system: “Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone-adult or minor, man or woman.”
